Here is the workhorse L-series (top of the line) Canon EF lens that has just been completely refurbished by Canon, including cleaning and replacing the rubber focus ring. It works perfectly and you will get some of the sharpest images ever through the full range of the zoom.
IS (Image Stabilization) means that the image will remain sharp even at slower shutter speeds (within reason) and also when hand-holding DSLR video.
There is a tiny ding on the glass mount (not glass) that has absolutely no effect on image.
